It's hard to overstate the potential of space. From endless clean energy in the form of microwave solar satellites to pollution-free industries to unimaginable scientific discoveries, incredible mineral bounties from asteroids, low cost global communications and ultimately human colonisation of the solar system, space is a truly revolutionary frontier.

Never in the history of humanity has such opportunity been so close, and yet so far away. The reason we haven't taken advantage of space is simple - it costs far too much to get there. Even if the craters of the moon were filled with gold bars, it wouldn't make economic sense to go and get them. Until now.

Unlike the best efforts of rocket based launchers which offer to cut costs to orbit by around half, Maglaunch technology promises to cut costs to less than half of one percent, using existing technology, no new alloys or materials are needed. This will finally realise the full potential of space for all of mankind to enjoy

Maglaunch is a disruptive technology that will change the face of the space industry and open the gateway to space.

It uses the Sandia National Laboratories accredited concept conceived of by Dr James Powell in 2000 to create a vacuum filled magnetically propelled cargo pod in generation one, and a human-rated people carrier in generation two, which will be launched into orbit. Using existing magnetic levitation transport technology similar to that used by maglev trains in Japan and China, we will be able to launch over a quarter of a million tons of cargo into space every year for less than $40 a kilogram. Right now it costs in the region of $10,000 a kilogram.

We estimate that a cargo-only version will cost in the region of $20 billion to build, which is near the annual budget of NASA, and could be completed within ten years. A man-rated version could be constructed within twenty years for $60 billion, but even a cargo version alone would completely change the face of space exploration forever.
